Dear Melissa,

I have just read read your article on how to write a successful proposal for online freelancing and I just wanted to say thank you!

I have been translating part-time for several years now working for private companies but I have just started working full-time and have joined several networks such as Proz and TranslatorsCafe. Not having had to quote before in such a competitive environment I feel like I am in a very different environment and you're advice is really helpful!

Kind regards,

Sarita Jannin

I think this is a great summary. Though, I think you are missing Level Thirteen: Power Couple. This has an analogy to not just being any old guild, but a successful raiding guild. My wife and I have talked about how there are happy couples, and then there are couples whose goals are aligned to the point that they seem to be able to accomplish anything they put their minds toward.

Though, to argue with myself, maybe marriage resets you back to Level One and you need a whole new chart for that?

I think for already-intact relationships (like friendships) the texting and stuff is great. However, for budding relationships I think they do more harm than good. I'm never sure of the appropriate text message return timeline or how to answer. Maybe it is just me, but I would way rather get a plain 'ol phone call. In the days of Twitter and Facebook a phone call seems pretty thoughtful.
